OFW families split every remittance into agreed envelopes the moment it lands, with both sides seeing the same balances in real time.
The problem
8 in 10 OFWs return home with no savings after years of working abroad, and 1 in 5 OFW families run out of money before the next remittance arrives. The money is earned. It just is not going where the family agreed it would.
The goal: a shared wallet that turns one decision into an enforced family budget, on infrastructure that costs a fraction of a cent per transaction.
What I built
- A joint Stellar wallet where every deposit auto-splits across named envelopes, so ₱10,000 becomes ₱5,000 Groceries, ₱3,000 Tuition, ₱2,000 Savings
- Admin controls: daily spend limits and approval requirements on locked envelopes
- Peso on-ramp via PDAX InstaPay QR
- A shared activity feed so nothing moves without the household seeing it
- Yield on Savings through Ondo USDY, plus an optional Grow bucket supplying into Blend
How it works
The wallet runs on Stellar with Soroban smart contracts written in Rust, holding balances in Circle USDC. Deposits are split into envelopes at the moment they land rather than tracked as an after-the-fact budget.
The Grow bucket supplies into Blend behind a 48-hour timelock, a deliberate safeguard for a wallet shared by multiple people: nobody can move the family's yield position on impulse.
